Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning (IQJAP) is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research in architecture, urban design, planning, and related fields of the built environment. The journal publishes original, high-quality applied and theoretical studies that contribute to the development of architectural knowledge, planning practice, and sustainable approaches to the built environment, with particular attention to issues relevant to Iraq, the Middle East, and comparable contexts, while maintaining a broad interdisciplinary and global perspective.
This journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Journal History
Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning (IQJAP) was established in 2001 as a scholarly outlet for research in architecture and planning disciplines. Originally published under the title Iraqi Journal of Architectural Engineering, the journal later adopted its current name to reflect an expanded interdisciplinary scope encompassing architecture, urban design, planning, and the built environment. Since its establishment, IQJAP has continued to develop its editorial policies and publishing practices, and in 2026 the journal migrated to the Digital Commons publishing platform to support broader dissemination, increased visibility, and wider scholarly reach of its published content.
Publishing Frequency
The Journal is published on a biannual basis, with regular issues released in January and July of each year.
