Aims & Scope

The Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning (IQJAP) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to the publication of original, high-quality research in architecture, urban design, planning, and related disciplines of the built environment. The journal aims to advance applied and theoretical knowledge by providing an academic forum for interdisciplinary research that addresses architectural practice, planning theory, environmental and sustainable design, heritage conservation, and spatial development. With particular emphasis on research relevant to Iraq and the Middle East, IQJAP also engages with broader international and comparative perspectives.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Architectural engineering
  • Architectural history
  • Environmental and sustainable design
  • General architecture (theory, design, and methods)
  • Historic preservation and conservation

The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, conference papers, and perspective or commentary contributions.
