Abstract
Throughout its various stages of development, the Yemeni people were able to succeed in creating their architectural and urban formations and establishing an organic, environmentally friendly architecture. Through their adaptation to the nature of the region, they were able to create architectural styles that are distinct from other styles, both in the Arab world and globally. Traditional Yemeni architecture and urban planning have adapted well to the surrounding environment, fulfilling their functional needs and aligning with the religious nature of the population. Traditional Yemeni architects created architecture integrated with the terrain, utilizing readily available raw materials, thus saving time, money, and effort for the Yemeni people. This resulted in architecture that is balanced with all seasons and spontaneous urban formations that harmonize with the environment and provide for human needs in housing, work, and worship. The old city of Taiz is one of the Yemeni cities whose authenticity is derived from its environment, and whose architecture and urban planning have largely responded to this environment. However, in recent times, as a result of Due to socio-economic developments and political changes, it began to suffer from many problems such as internal (from the governorate) and external (from the rest of the governorates and outside the republic) migrations to it and the natural increase of its population... which made it develop randomly in all directions and patterns appeared in it.
