Abstract
Recent architectural literature dealt with cubism as a movement ofart and Architecture directly or through a specified phenomenon which relates the two indirectly. This research deali with the System in Cubism according to the Structuralist Methodology which concentrates on three characteristics: Totality, Transformations and Seli-control. At its first stage this rescarch attempts to clarify these tlree characteristics concentrating on the architectural freld. It extacted the formal tools used to reinforce the system in the architectural product' too' Rhythm emerged amongst ihese tools, rhythm as a major tool was defined, its importance was pointed out and its types were demonstrated. At its second stage, the res'earch ried to explote the nature of rhythm in the Twenties Revivalism Approach. The results showed that architects use the layered rhythm in facades through the use of multi planes which include grids, walls and elements ilterfering with each other to achieve the totality of the facades , thus reinforcing its cubic system' The conclusions confirm that Twenties Revivalism Approach in architecture had been affected by cubism as a movement of art and supporting the context of some parts of literature.
